(From Galena Police Department)On Friday afternoon July 14, 2023, the Galena Police Department was notified of a person cutting wire from telephone poles on the South side of town.
With the description of the vehicle and person involved provided by local residents, Officers were able to locate the vehicle near 21st and Stateline Road.
A traffic stop was conducted. While talking with the male driver, Officers noticed wire and cutting tools in the floor and seats of the vehicle. Based on the information received and items found the driver was detained and identified as 28-year-old Dakota Beck. Upon further investigation, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were also located.
Beck was transported to the Cherokee County Jail, where he is being held on allegations of Theft from a Utility Company, Criminal Damage to Property, Possession of Certain Hallucinogenic Drugs, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
