Parsons Police Department makes multiple arrests

(From the Parsons Police Department)

The Parsons Police Department made a series of successful felony arrests since the beginning of March, showcasing the dedication and tenacity of its officers. In a dedicated display of law enforcement prowess, officers from the Parsons Police Department made three notable felony-level arrests in the first week of March.

On March 2nd Officer Mark Raney and Sergeant Waylon Kepley made the arrest of Stephen Montreal Dunn. Dunn was spotted walking by Officer Raney near the Parsons Municipal Building. When Dunn saw Officer Raney, he fled on foot, there was a female with him who was later identified as Illyana Ellen Oneal, that fled in a different direction.

Officer Raney followed Dunn and after a short foot pursuit he was arrested by Officer Raney and Sergeant Kepley on multiple charges. Dunn had active warrants through Labette County, Montgomery County, Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) as well as Parsons Municipal Court. Dunn was highlighted on social media as a wanted person for failure to register in 2023. Dunn was safely taken into custody and transported to the Parsons Municipal Lockup Facility.

On March 6th Officers Sean McCullough and Officer Shyanne Dunn arrested Timothy Robinson for non-residential burglary after a homeowner in the 2400 block of Stevens reported that a generator was missing from a residence that was being remodeled.

Officers responded to the house and cleared the residence, not finding anyone inside. When they checked the detached garage, they found Timothy Robinson inside with items prepared to steal. Robinson was arrested and transported to the Parsons Municipal Lockup without incident. Charges for Burglary, Criminal Damage, and Theft are being sent to the Labette County Attorney Officer for official charging. Robinson is a long-time felon with multiple arrests for controlled substances and burglary.

On March 7th Officer Mark Raney arrested Lamarcus Brown after a pursuit that began at the stop sign at 13th and Briggs. Officer Raney was doing proactive patrol, monitoring the new stop sign at 13th and Briggs. He noticed a vehicle that failed to stop at the stop sign and then fled. Officer Raney pursued and radioed a description of the vehicle. The vehicle fled south to 13th and Stone. Then east to 10th/Pratt then south out of town. The pursuit was discontinued by Parsons officers for safety due to running multiple more stop signs and driving over 100 mph on wet roads. The information was relayed to Labette County.

Shortly after the pursuit was discontinued by Parsons, a Labette County Deputy was able to locate and stop the suspect vehicle near 12000 and Rooks, approximately 12 miles south of Parsons. Officer Raney responded to Rooks and was able to identify the vehicle. The suspect, now identified as LaMarcus Ladell Steven Brown, admitted to being the driver and fleeing. The vehicle was impounded. We thank the Labette County Sheriff's Office for their assistance and support. Charges for felony Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, and multiple traffic violations we sent to the Labette County Attorney's Office for official charging.

As of March 11, 2024, Dunn is still in custody at the Labette County Jail, Robinson was given $30,000.00 cash surety bond and transported to Labette County, and Brown was bonded on a $3,000.00 bond.
