(From the Joplin Police Department)On April 1st, 2024, at approximately 11:18 pm the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a 911 report of a vehicle fire near 32nd Street and Prigmore Avenue. Joplin Police Officers responded along with Joplin Fire Department and EMS personnel.
It was determined the vehicle, a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup, was traveling eastbound on 32nd Street and struck the traffic light support pole and then caught fire.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as Cody Shaver, age 19 of Joplin. Next of kin has been notified. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
The Joplin Police Department Major Crash Team is continuing to investigate this incident. Further details may be released as information arises.
