(From the Newton County Sheriff's Office)On 4/19/2024 Newton County Deputies were dispatched to an address on Kayla Lane in Neosho in reference to a burglary alarm.
While in-route, Deputies were advised the homeowner had observed an individual on a surveillance camera on his front porch, and shortly thereafter the homeowner was notified about the alarm. The homeowner was able to provide suspect descriptions from surveillance footage.
Due to their proximity, Neosho Police Department was requested to assist. When NPD arrived, two individuals were located hiding in a wooded area to the east of the residence. Both subjects fled on foot.
During the foot pursuit, the two suspects forcibly entered a second home on Baxter Street in Neosho that was occupied by a mother and child. One of the suspects swung a metal object at the resident. Both subjects fled the residence. Newton County Deputies and Neosho Police Officers were able to apprehend both suspects in the immediate area.
Charges were submitted to the Newton County Prosecutor’s office.
Jefferson Molina, 36-year-old male, and Edgar Samuel Aldena-Reyes, 22-year-old male, were both charged with 2nd Degree Burglary and Property Damage. Both men are being held without bail in the Newton County Jail.
Both subjects now have additional charges, they are as follows:
•Burglary First Degree
•Assault Second Degree
•Armed Criminal Action
•Resisting a Felony Arrest
Both subjects are being held without bond.
