Joplin Little Theatre production subject of next Newsmakers program

A musical comedy that combines Neil Simon’s wit and the music of Burt Bacharach will take stage in May at Joplin Little Theatre. Promises, Promises which is based on the screenplay of the movie, The Apartment, by Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond has lyrics by Hal David. 


This week on Newsmakers, director Marilyn Bouldin and cast members talk about the show set in the 1960’s and featuring hit songs like ‘I Say a Little Prayer’ recorded by both Dionne Warwick and Aretha Franklin. The show includes a feature story with actors in rehearsal and an in-studio performance by Charity Brower who plays the lead female character, Fran Kubelik.








Joplin Little Theatre Board Member Bethany Newsom shares details of an upcoming children’s production called Once Upon a Crime The Trial of Goldilocks. Newsom also talks about summer theatre workshops planned at JLT during the month of July.

Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. the week of April 21 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS - Missouri Southern State University.

KGCS programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communications at Missouri Southern State University.
