A Nevada man was killed and a Joplin woman injured in a one-vehicle crash 12:33 a.m. today East Logan Road a half mile west of Nevada.
According to the Highway Patrol report, 2014 Chrysler 300 driven by Jarrek L. Rankin, 29, Nevada, traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment and a fence and overturned.
Vernon County Deputy Coroner Richard Burdick pronounced Rankin dead at the scene at 12:49 a.m.
A passenger, Caitlin J. Freeman, 27, Joplin, was airlifted to Cox South Hospital, Springfield with serious injuries.
The fatality was the 25th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
