Table Talk Toastmasters to hold annual International Speech Contest

Table Talk Toastmasters invites the public to attend its annual International Speech Contest and Table Topics Contest on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. The event will take place at 512 S Joplin Avenue, Joplin, MO, with an option for online participation via Zoom. This exciting event showcases the speaking talents of Table Talk Toastmasters members as they compete for a chance to advance through the Area and Division contests to compete at the District level in May. 

The International Speech Contest highlights prepared speeches, while the Table Topics Contest challenges contestants to deliver impromptu responses to a surprise question. 

Ultimately, the International Speech contestants have their eye on the World Championship of Public Speaking, held annually in August, where speakers from around the world come together to compete for the title. 

“Last year, our club members Jonathan Bunn and Austin Rose demonstrated the strength of our club by competing at the district level in Kansas City,” said Kirra Antrobus, Vice President of Public Relations. “Their success underscores the transformative power of Toastmasters in building communication and leadership skills.” Jonathan Bunn placed third in the 2023-2024 district International Speech Contest, and Austin Rose claimed first place in the Evaluation Contest. These achievements exemplify the dedication and talent of Table Talk Toastmasters members, setting the stage for another thrilling competition this year. 

Founded in 2017, Table Talk Toastmasters continues to thrive with the support of its original charter members: Christy Profitt, Jonathan Bunn, David Wells, and Scott Miller. Today, the club has about 20 active members and is currently accepting new members.
