(From the Joplin Fire Department)On Wednesday, August 6th, at approximately 4:17pm, the Joplin 911 center began receiving multiple reports of a residential structure fire near 26th and Grand Ave.
On arrival Joplin Fire crews found heavy fire involvement to a single story residential structure. Personnel made an aggressive attack on the fire and searched for victims.
The occupants of the home were able to escape without injury. The fire was controlled within 20 minutes and there were no injuries to firefighters. JFD was assisted by METS ambulance and the Joplin Police Department. The American Red Cross is assisting the occupant that was displaced by the fire.
The Joplin Fire Marshal investigated the cause and origin of the fire and discovered the fire originated on the exterior of the structure on the back of the home. The cause is still under investigation, however, there was no indication of anything suspicious.
