(From the Joplin Fire Department)During the month of July, the Joplin Fire Department set a record for responses in a single month tallying 936 responses and averaging just over 30 per day.
The previous record for the highest number of responses in a single month was 881 set in 2024.
Diving into the numbers a little deeper, July is typically a high call volume month primarily due to the 4 day period around the 4th of July. This year, however, we only responded to 7 incidents related to fireworks.
The high call volume and extreme high temps made it challenging, but our staff met the challenge. Thank you to all of our firefighters and public safety staff for your work and your dedication to serving our community.
