(From the Joplin Police Department)
The recipient for the 2016 Rookie of the Year award is Officer Veronica Bailey.
Officer Bailey received multiple nominations for this award, not only from her supervisors but also from other co-workers as well. One of them wrote the following nomination:
Officer Bailey is constantly searching for criminal activity. She is a well-rounded officer and is not set on one crime or enforcement activity. Officer Bailey was one of the top producers for her team even when competing with veteran officers.
Officer Bailey is very thorough with her reports and goes out of her way to follow up on information. She often goes beyond expectations to make solid cases to aid in the prosecution of the offenders that she arrests.
Officer Bailey can be counted on to make sound decisions consistently. Officer Bailey has a plan in place for her career here at the Joplin Police Department and is working to set that plan in motion by becoming a solid patrol officer. Officer Bailey is a motivated officer and a positive representation of the Joplin Police Department.
Congratulations Officer Bailey and thank you for your hard work ethic and setting an example of high quality of policing. You’re an asset to the Joplin Police Department and thank you for your service.
