Joplin Police Department arrests three on meth trafficking, possession charges

On June 14, 2017 at approximately 11:17PM a Joplin Police Department K9 Officer checked a pedestrian at 5th and Patterson who was walking in the middle of the road. The male was identified as Dustin J Purdham, 29, Joplin. Purdham was found to have 7 active city warrants and was arrested. He was also discovered to be in possession of a bag of suspected methamphetamine with an approximate weight of 40 grams. Purdham was transported to the Joplin City Jail for Trafficking Drugs in the Second Degree, possession of drug paraphernalia and the warrants.

On June 14, 2017 at approximately 11:53PM a JPD Officer located a
GMC Yukon making a wide turn and failing to signal another turn. He stopped the vehicle at 6th and St. Charles for the violations. During investigation of the stop, the driver was identified as Thomas Webb, 47, Webb City, and the passenger was identified as Shawn Burrows, 39, Duquesne. The officer could smell an odor of marijuana and see drug paraphernalia in plain view. Upon further investigation, approximately 73 grams of suspected methamphetamine was located in the vehicle along with numerous items of drug paraphernalia and prescription pills. Webb and Burrows were both arrested and transported to the Joplin City Jail for Trafficking in Drugs in the Second Degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In both cases charges were submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office. Dustin Purdham was charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance with a $10,000 bond. Thomas Webb and Shawn Burrows were also both charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance with $10,000 bonds each.
