Public hearings scheduled for Missouri American Water request for 25 percent rate increase

(From the Missouri Public Service Commission)

The Missouri Public Service Commission has announced the hearing schedule in water and sewer rate cases filed by the Missouri-American Water Company (MAWC).

Formal evidentiary hearings are scheduled for February 26-March 2, 2018, and March 5-9, 2018, in Room 310 of the Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, Jefferson City. These hearings will be held in a building that meets the accessibility standards required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. Any person requiring additional accommodations to participate in these hearings should call the Public Service Commission’s hotline at 1-800-392-4211 (voice) or Relay Missouri at 711 before the hearings.

The Commission will be holding local public hearings in these rate cases. An order announcing that schedule will be issued when dates, times and locations are finalized.

On June 30, 2017, MAWC filed water and sewer rate cases with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking to increase annual operating revenues by approximately $74.6 million; a general rate increase of approximately 25% annually for water and sewer services.

MAWC serves approximately 457,300 water customers and 13,221 sewer customers in Missouri.

Missouri American Water served the City of Joplin.
