Joplin police officer assaulted while responding to domestic disturbance report

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

Yesterday morning, September 26 at 2:51 a.m., we received a 911 call about a domestic disturbance.

When an officer arrived at the front door, he could hear the disturbance inside the house. A male opened the front door, saw the officer, and attempted to slam the door on the officer.

After a struggle, the male did in fact slam the door and ran back inside, injuring the officer. Officers surrounded the house and the male came back outside and surrendered.

No crime was found to have occurred with the disturbance itself, but the 35-year-old male was arrested for three warrants, assault on law enforcement and obstruction. The officer had an injured wrist from the assault.
