Joplin Police arrest Neosho man for DWI, blood alcohol more than twice the limit

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

This morning at about 01:49 a.m. one of our officers was stopped at the red light at 7th and Main facing east. There was a Dodge Dually on the inside lane, next to him at the red light.

When the light turned green, the truck revved its engine and accelerated away eastbound. The officer was surprised by the driver's actions and thought that maybe the truck was already trying to get away from him. He captured him on radar pulling away at 54 mph in a 35 mph zone before 7th and Grand.

The officer caught up to the vehicle and observed it was failing to stay in its lane and driving erratically. The officer stopped the truck at 7th and High for the violations. The driver, a 62-year-old male from Neosho was arrested for DWI and had a BAC of more than twice the legal limit.
