Man's excuse to Joplin PD for driving drunk: He ran out of vodka and was trying to get more

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

Last night, about 10:50 p.m. we received a phone call from a convenience store that an intoxicated male was trying to buy alcohol. They denied him the sale and he drove away.

As officers were looking for him, a second convenience store called in the same. A nearby officer contacted the male driving away from that store with expired plates. He was very intoxicated and arrested for DWI.

He said he had ran out of vodka and was trying to get more.

We appreciate our community partners who help keep our roads safe by reporting impaired drivers!
