So you want to be a Lamar Aquatic Park manager

The City of Lamar is looking for someone to manage its Aquatic Park and posted the following advertisement:


The City of Lamar is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Lamar Aquatic Park Manager.

This is a benefits eligible, full-time, year-round position. Some nights and weekends may be required. 

The Lamar Aquatic Park manager reports directly to the director of Parks & Recreation and is responsible for assisting in the planning of all aquatics activities, oversight of LAP staff and the upkeep of our three pools. 

Qualifications include:

· A four-year degree in the field of aquatics management, health and human performance or physical education.

· Three years of work experience in an aquatic setting

· Knowledge of pool chemical and filtration systems

· Carry or be willing to acquire the following certifications; Lifeguard (Red Cross preferred) and Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator

· Consideration will be given for both management and aquatics experience.

The Lamar Aquatic Park is located within the Lamar City Park. Opened in 1995, the LAP includes three pools, a leisure pool complete with: zero entry, a slide, lily pads, several floating water features and water shooters; a 6-lane 25-yard competition pool; and an indoor, handicapped accessible two-lane pool for year-round aquatics activities. The outdoor pools are open every day May through August, with the indoor pool open Monday-Thursday year-round.

Lamar is a town of 5,000 people in the southwest corner of Missouri, just north of Joplin on I-49. We are located 80 miles west of Springfield, 150 miles northeast of Tulsa, Oklahoma and 120 miles south of the Kansas City metro area.
