Carthage man seriously injured in one-vehicle crash

A Carthage man was injured in a one-vehicle accident 8 a.m. Wednesday on Route D, three miles north of Carthage.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2000 Ford F-150 driven by Shannon L. Witt, 47, Carthage, ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree stump.

Witt was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.

    The highway patrol report was incorrect. Shannon was a woman, and she passed away from her injuries last Sunday night.
