Colorado pedestrian hit, killed by semi on 171

A Colorado man was killed when he was run over by a 3:45 a.m. Wednesday on MO 171, three miles north of Carl Junction.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2016 Freightliner driven by Matthew D. Hooten, 31, Heber Springs, Arkansas, struck and killed Kenneth D. Anders, 71, Akron, Colorado, who was in the roadway.

The fatality was the 55th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
