Joplin Fire Department responds to two structure fires

JFD firefighters have had a busy 24 hours. On Monday, September 1st at 9:55 PM, five fire units on second alarm responded to 501 W. B Street for a reported residential structure fire. 

On arrival 3 minutes later, personnel found fire and smoke showing from the second floor of a residential structure. Personnel made an interior attack and confined the fire to the room of origin, bringing the fire under control in 20 minutes. 

The fire is currently under investigation by the Joplin Police Department and the Joplin Fire Marshal. There were no injuries. Assistance was provided by JPD and METS ambulance.








On Tuesday, September 2nd at 6:58 AM, seven fire units responded to 801 S. Chestnut for a residential structure fire. On arrival, personnel found a two-story vacant residence with fire and smoke showing from all sides and both floors. A defensive attack was made, and the fire was placed under control at 9:24 AM. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Joplin Police Department and the Joplin Fire Marshal. There were no injuries. Assistance was provided by JPD and METS ambulance.

On Tuesday, September 2nd at 1:25 PM, five fire units responded to 726 S. Indiana for a reported residential structure fire. On arrival a few minutes later, personnel found light smoke coming from a single-story residential structure. JFD personnel found a small cooking fire in the kitchen which was quickly extinguished. There were no injuries. Assistance was provided by Joplin PD and METS ambulance.
