Joplin woman, Oronogo teen killed in head-on collision, two teens suffer serious injuries

Two people were killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle collision 4:35 a.m. today on MO 43, six miles south of Liberal.

According to the Highway Patrol report, 2017 Toyota Highlander driven by Shelby K. Stinnett, 30, Joplin, crossed the center line and struck a 1998 Ford F250 driven by a 17-year-old Oronogo boy head on.

Barton County Coroner Sarah Rutledge pronounced both drivers dead at the scene.








A passenger in the Oronogo teen's vehicle, a 15-year-old Carl Junction boy, was flown to Mercy Springfield to be treated for serious injuries.

Another passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old Joplin boy, was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Joplin.

The fatalities were the 90th and 91st this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
