One arrested, two still at large after Newton County shooting

On Saturday, March 4, 2023, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Carver Road and Highway MM in reference to a shooting incident.
 
At that location it was learned that a male had put his vehicle into a ditch after apparently being shot twice. An altercation had occurred between the victim and occupants of another vehicle. 








At this time the reason for the shooting is not known but everyone involved in the incident knew each other. The victim, Jamie D. Hodges, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital and was later med flighted to another location.

Newton County Detectives began working the scene and interviewing witnesses. Throughout the rest of the day a series of search warrants were served with the final one being served at 13314 Highway V, Diamond MO.
 
This warrant was served by Detectives and the Special Response Team. At that location at 2:15AM one of the 3 suspects was taken into custody. Cody Douglas Jones, 35 years of age, was arrested and charged with:

1) Assault First Degree
2) Armed Criminal Action
3) Assault Second Degree
4) Armed Criminal Action








He is currently in custody with No Bond.

Two other individuals are still being sought. They are Trevor J. Palmer, a 26-year-old white male and Kimber M. Laquet, a 37-year-old white female. Warrants have been issued for both suspects with the exact same charges as Jones.
