Original news release

On Thursday February 9th, 2023, at 6:35am, Webb City officers attempted to stop a red 1997 GMC Sierra near the Webb City roundabout.

That vehicle led officers on a pursuit southbound on I-49 to Zora where it left the roadway & became disabled. The male driver fled on foot into a thick wooded area north and east of the Zora and I-49 ramp. He appeared to be a white male, 35-40 years of age, approximately 6ft tall, skinny build.

Webb City officers were assisted by the Missouri Highway Patrol and deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff's Office in searching the area for the suspect. After over an hour the search into the wooded area was discontinued and the suspect was not located.

The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen (rep orted to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office 02/05/2023).

The investigation is ongoing.

This incident is not related to the College Heights Christian School premise alert that occurred during our search efforts.
