Neosho Area Habitat for Humanity receives sizable grants

(From Neosho Area Habitat for Humanity)

The Neosho Area Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce that it has received two significant grants that will greatly assist in its mission of building safe and affordable homes for Newton County residents.

The W.R. Corley Trust, established by Joplin area businessman W.R. Corley, has generously awarded the Habitat affiliate a grant of $5,000. These funds have been designated to assist with the purchase of the HVAC system for the current homes under construction, thereby ensuring comfort and energy efficiency for future homeowners.

Chuck Brown, Jeff Maxwell, and Janet Penn of Southwest Missouri Bank presented the grant to Habitat Board members, Kent Farnsworth and Carrie Martin, as well as Habitat Director, Pris Jeffers Reed. Mr. Corley’s legacy in the Joplin area was not only as a successful businessman, with ventures such as Accents, The Duds Shop, and The Attic, but also as a philanthropist and community supporter.

In addition, State Farm Insurance Company has awarded the Neosho Area Habitat affiliate a $14,000 grant to further assist with the building of the homes. This generous grant was presented by local agents Fred Harris, Justin Carnahan, Eric Norris, and Brian Hamlett to Habitat Board members, Phillip Witt, April Kruse, Kent Farnsworth, Tina Hierholzer, and Tom Pellegrin.

These homes will be open to the public for viewing on August 6, marking a significant milestone in the affiliate's mission to provide affordable housing solutions for Newton County residents.
