Carthage United Way featured on next Newsmakers program

(From KGCS)

Charities and not-for-profit organizations rely on volunteers and donations. The Carthage United Way supports eleven of those kinds of organizations, and shares its annual campaign goals on the upcoming Newsmakers.

Carthage United Way Board Member and Campaign Chairperson Kalee Vice along with Co-Chairperson Kelly Humble from Mercy discuss campaign goals, and how donation raised often help fill funding gaps for non-profit groups. Toni Smith of Carthage Crosslines and Janie Garner of 4H explain how United Way funding helps the organizations cover operational costs.

The Carthage United Way counts high school students among its team members through a student advocate program. Carthage High School Student Kaylea Binney, Faculty Adviser Kristen Harrison and CHS alumnus Quincy Atwood share how students are supporting the fundraising effort and witnessing charities good works in-person. We also see a video news feature showing how funds are impacting children and parents through transportation provided for Community Support Services Early Learning Center.

This Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. the week of November 5 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, November 11 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS - Missouri Southern State University. KGCS programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communications at Missouri Southern State University.
