Joplin police pursuit leads to arrest of Webb City man for burglary, tampering, resisting arrest

On November 17, 2023, at 08:10 a.m. an officer with the Joplin Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations near Junge Boulevard and Pearl Avenue, however the suspect vehicle fled, and a pursuit ensued. 

The suspect vehicle ended up coming to a stop near E Street and Jackson Avenue and the driver fled from the vehicle on foot. 

A perimeter was established, and a Jasper County K-9 was utilized to help track the suspect. 







The suspect was eventually located hiding inside a vehicle in a garage in the area. He was taken into custody without further incident. 

The suspect was identified as Matthew R. Kimmel, age 42 of Webb City. He was arrested on traffic related charges in addition to Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1 st Degree, and Resisting Arrest. 

Kimmel also had warrants out of the City of Carterville and Webb City. He also had a felony Resisting Arrest warrant out of Jasper County with a $50,000 bond. His charges will be forwarded to the Jasper County Prosecutor's Office for review.
