Joplin Police SWAT takes attempted murder suspect into custody

(From the Joplin Police Department)

On 3-13-2025 around 11:15 am, Joplin Police responded to Home 2 Suites located at 3000 S Range Line Rd after receiving reports that a patron was inside a room who had an attempted murder warrant which involved a firearm.

Officers were able to determine that Joshua T. Ferguson 39, of Cherokee County, Kansas, was inside a room of the hotel.

Officers at that location attempted to contact Ferguson several times but he refused to leave the room. As a result, the Joplin Police Department’s SWAT team responded.

After the arrival of the Joplin SWAT team, Ferguson was taken into custody without incident. Ferguson was then taken to the Jasper County Jail for the warrant. This is still an ongoing investigation and any questions regarding the issuance of the warrant can be directed to the Cherokee County, Kansas Sheriff's Office.
