On March 19, 2025, the McDonald County Sheriff's Office received information from the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole that John Edwards McClary had absconded from his halfway house in Kansas City, Missouri. McClary, a former Pineville resident, is well known to area law enforcement.
After hours of investigation, deputies of the McDonald County Sheriff's Office and officers of the Anderson Police Department performed a traffic stop in Anderson and took McClary into custody without incident.
McClary, at the time of his arrest, had absconded while serving a sentence for felony driving while intoxicated, as well as an active warrant out of Ottawa County, Oklahoma for felony resisting arrest. McClary was previously convicted of second degree murder of Richard Scott Yocham in Cleveland County, Oklahoma in 1989 after beating him to death in as Yocham slept.
McClary also has convictions for kidnapping, armed robbery and motor vehicle theft out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
This incident was investigated by the McDonald County Sheriff's Office and was assisted by the Anderson Police Department, the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole and the Missouri Information Analysis Center.
