A Golden City man trying to climb onto the roof of a car, fell off and was hit by the car.
The accident occurred 3 a.m. today on Valley Side Road, three-tenths of a mile before Bowers Road in Crawford County. According to the Highway Patrol report, Timothy J. Ostendorf, 38, Golden City, climbed onto the roof of a 2007 Pontiac G6 driven by Kelly M. Hayes, 31, Golden City, causing her to lose control. The car went off the left side of the roadway, causing Ostendorf to fall off and be struck.
Ostendorf was treated for serious injuries at University Hospital, Columbia.
