Exeter man charged with vehicular homicide (DWI) after crash kills passenger

An Exeter man was charged with felony vehicular homicide (driving while intoxicated) after his passenger was killed in a one-vehicle crash 2:35 a.m. today on Route CC, three miles north of Exeter.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Christopher D. Stogsdill, 29, Exeter, driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, ran off the roadway, overturned, and ejected the passenger, Leanna M. Terry, 32, Butterfield, who was not wearing a seat belt.

Terry was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Deputy Coroner Charlie McManus at 3 a.m.

Stogsdill was treated for moderate injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.

In addition to the vehicular homicide charge, Stogsdill was charged with careless and imprudent driving and for not wearing a seat belt.

The fatality was the 58th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
