The Joplin Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1030 S Roosevelt, at 7:14 AM, Friday, 17 July, 2015.
Fire crews arrived on the scene at 7:20 AM to find a single story duplex with smoke showing from the north apartment, number “A”. Upon entry they found smoke throughout the house and a burning couch. Crews extinguished the fire and carried the burned couch outside. Crews declared the fire under control at 7:29 AM and remained on scene until 8:36 AM.
The apartment was not occupied at the time of the fire. Two residents in the adjoining apt “B” evacuated and were able to return after the fire was out.
No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or others in the area. Six Joplin Fire units and 18 Joplin Fire personnel responded as well as JPD and METS.
The cause of the fire was ruled accidental by the fire marshal.
