Comic creators coming to Joplin Public Library

(From the Joplin Public Library)

In case local enthusiasts are unable to attend this week’s Comic-Con International, an annual convention for comic book fans in San Diego, Calif., the Joplin Public Library is bringing some of the fun to you.
On Thursday, July 16, three comic book creators will gather at 6 p.m. in the large meeting room of the Library to interact with their fans and discuss their careers. The public is invited to meet these comic book authors and illustrators:

• Jeremy Haun. Some of his recognizable titles include Batwoman (illustrator), Constantine (illustrator), and The Beauty (co-author & illustrator);

• Kevin Mellon. As a storyboard artist, he is currently working on the FX show, Archer.

• Ande Parks. Parks has worked on various projects, including these recognizable titles: Green Arrow (illustrator), Capote in Kansas (author & illustrator), and Union Station (author).

These three creators will come together for a panel discussion about their works, their careers, and all things comics. The Library will offer a limited number of copies of each creators' works for sale, and there will be a brief signing at the end of the event.

This event is part of the Library's summer programming and is open to all ages, with teens and adults generally holding a special interest in this type of program. .

The program is free of charge and has been made possible thanks to a federal grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
