Electrical malfunction causes fire at 3028 S. Joplin Ave.

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 3028 S. Joplin Ave at 3:09am Monday, July 13, 2015. Fire crews arrived on the scene to find heavy fire involvement to the attic of a single story residential structure. The fire was contained to the attic of the structure with water damage throughout the structure.

The fire was declared under control at 3:41am and remained on scene until 4:57 a.m. 

Occupant and ownership information is unavailable at this time. 

No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or others in the area. Six Joplin Fire units and 16 Joplin Fire personnel responded. American Red Cross also responded to assist with displaced residents in the apartment.

The cause of the fire is listed as accidental due to an electrical malfunction in the attic.
