Joplin Insider program tocuses on stormwater management

(From City of Joplin)

In the next program of Joplin Insider, viewers will learn more about the importance of stormwater management and how they can positively impact the system with just a few easy tips.

Public Information Officer Lynn Onstot visits with MaryAnne Phillips, Stormwater Educator and Joplin Recycling Coordinator, about keeping our waterways clean. Phillips states that much of the work can easily be done, and it begins with residents being good stewards of the environment. She demonstrates how water from our yards and fields enter the creeks through numerous ways, emphasizing that many of our lifestyle tasks may send chemicals or sediments into the water ways of Joplin, which then flow into larger streams and eventually empty into Grand Lake.

Joplin Insider, the City’s 30-minute interview television show, is in cooperation with KGCS-TV and the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University. This episode will air several times throughout the next few weeks including:

Sunday, July 26 at 9 p.m.

Tuesday, July 28 at 9 p.m.

Sunday, August 2 at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, August 4 at 6 p.m.

The program is also posted on the YouTube site by clicking on the link at the end of this article.
