Carthage couple injured in collision on I-49

Two Carthage residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident 11:55 a.m. Thursday on I-49, five miles north of Carthage.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Shalane N. Peacock, 26, Lamar, driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, lost control and struck a 2009 Hyundai Elantra driven by Roger A. Stinnett, 74, Carthage, causing it to run off the roadway and strike several trees.

Stinnett and a passenger, Sherrie L. Stinnett, 75, Carthage, were treated for minor and moderate injuries, respectively, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
