Neosho man seriously injured in two-vehicle crash, faces felony drug charge

A Neosho man was arrested on felony and misdemeanor drug charges following a two-vehicle accident 5 p.m. Thursday, on I-49, two miles south of Joplin.

According to the Patrol report, Ranon J. Chiles, 21, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance (alprazolam), misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and careless and imprudent driving.

Chiles, driving a 2015 Kawasaki Ninja, struck the rear of a 2004 Honda CRV driven by Edmond W. Parette, 58, Fayetteville, Arkansas. The motorcycle overturned in the median, while the Parette vehicle ran off the roadway and struck an embankment.

Chiles was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin. Parette sought his own treatment for minor injuries.
