State audit of Dade County announced

(From State Auditor Nicole Galloway)

Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway today announced the start of a regularly scheduled audit of Dade County, located in southwest Missouri.

"This audit will be an independent review of the processes and procedures in place throughout Dade County to ensure that county business is handled efficiently and transparently," Auditor Galloway said. "I'm encouraging any citizens with information that might be helpful to this effort to reach out to my Whistleblower Hotline."

The most recent audit of Dade County was released in 2013 and received an overall performance rating of fair. The report identified concerns related to the county's failure to properly reduce property taxes, which led to an over-collection, and a lack of oversight in the Sheriff's Office.

Individuals with information related to these audits or other government entities may contact the State Auditor's Whistleblower Hotline by calling 800-347-8597, by emailing moaudit@auditor.mo.gov or by using the online submission form at auditor.mo.gov/hotline.
