Two hundred thirty-eight area high school students who participate in the Federal Trio Upward Bound program have had the opportunity to engage in various research projects as well as live on campus since the end of May.
Students had the option of selecting from courses in the college prep academy. This year’s classes include:
· Crime & Punishment
· Psychology of Crime
· Project Launch
· Music Through the Ages
· So You Think You Want to be a Doctor?
· The Future You: Leadership and Personal Development
· Bugging Out
· Introduction to Engineering Design
· Photography and Mass Media
· Read. Run. Repeat.
Research projects will be presented on Monday, July 2, from 8:30-10am and 2:30-4pm. Each class will have student presentations showcasing their work and research.
Following the on-campus stay the students will wrap up their summer studies with a cultural trip to Pensacola, FL.
Upward Bound programs are federally-funded programs designed to provide educational access and assistance to income-eligible, first-generation, and/or disabled students. Crowder College’s UB Programs provide services to 10 counties in southwest Missouri.
