Carthage woman cited for DWI after failing to stop for stop sign and crashing into unoccupied residence

A Carthage woman was charged with driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident 11:35 p.m. Tuesday on MO 96, three miles east of Carthage.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2016 Kia Soul driven by Bethany A. Norwood, 27, Carthage, failed to stop for a stop sign, struck a ditch and an unoccupied residence.

Norwood, who was treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance and failure to stop at a stop sign.
