Galena Police meth, cocaine arrests include lawbreaking bicyclist, domestic squabblers

(From the Galena Police Department)

Sergeant's Scoop

On November 27th, 2018 a Galena Police Officer stopped an individual on a bicycle for committing several traffic violations. The individual was warned and advised on the legal operation of a bicycle. The very next evening the same individual was stopped for committing the same traffic violations on his bicycle. The investigation led to the discovery of methamphetamine on the rider’s person. The rider was arrested and charged with felony Possession of a controlled substance. “Riding dirty” is not advised. “Riding dirty” and in violation of traffic code is… (Insert your own adjective here).

On November 30th, 2018 a female was located inside her vehicle parked at a local residence. A Galena officer on patrol recognized the female as a wanted individual and took her into custody for her outstanding warrant. Not a particularly notable event in the grand scheme of things… but stand by for what happens on December 2nd.

But first, on December 1st, 2018 the Galena Police Department received dispatch to a local address in reference to a physical disturbance between household members. The suspect was located outside the residence covered in a blanket. The officer suspected he was being deceived when the suspect continuously exhibited behavior indicative of lying through his teeth. The officer’s perception was found to be accurate when the suspect’s actions were found to be caught on the home’s security camera footage.

On December 2nd, 2018, the female who was arrested on November 30th, was found in the same vehicle at the same residence, in the company of two other individuals who happened to be wanted for outstanding warrants. Yep she came back and brought two of her wanted friends with her.

On December 5th, 2018, a couple of young men came “blazing” through town failing to maintain their lane of travel. The investigating officer smelled the odor of burning marijuana when he contacted the vehicle. While the marijuana had apparently been otherwise consumed the driver was found to be in possession of COCAINE!

On December 10th, 2018, a Galena officer was dispatched to a local car dealership. The owner of the dealership noticed a “customer” had stolen the key to a vehicle he was inspecting and replaced it with another key. This might have been a good plan had the individual actually used a key from the same make automobile as the one he stole. The dealership’s remarkable camera system led to the quick identification of the suspect. The dealership was surveilled and a few hours later, the individual returned to steal the car. The plan was foiled however, because the crafty owner had disabled the vehicle. The suspect ran upon contact but thanks to the quick feet of your GPD and the orange construction netting lining Main Street, the suspect was quickly apprehended. (Honorable mention going to the owner of the dealership for helping box in the suspect vehicle and making a citizen’s detention of the driver)

I promise you, our “clients” do not always make it so easy. While all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty, they are not always considered to act with the most intelligence.
