...EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued an
Excessive Heat Watch, which is in effect from Wednesday afternoon
through Saturday evening.

* TEMPERATURE...Highs in the middle 90s with heat index values
around 103 to 108 are expected Wednesday through Friday.

* IMPACTS...A prolonged period of hot weather can increase the
risk of heat related illness, including heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. The very young, the elderly, and those without access
to air conditioning will be especially vulnerable.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of hot
temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and
high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS SITUATION in
which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay
in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on
relatives and neighbors.
