The victim has been identified as Travis M Hurlbert, 28 of Saginaw.
After the initial investigation, the victim reported this to be an accidental shooting. Hurlbert
remains in a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
Original news release
On 7-1-2019, at approximately 8 A.M , Jasper County Deputies were notified about a
gunshot victim that was transported to a local hospital.
Jasper County Deputies along with Joplin Police are working together to determine where this
shooting occurred.
Information has been received that this may have been an accident but our
Detectives are investigating this as a suspicious shooting until we can determine what
occurred.
