Carthage FFA to hold annual Food for America event

(From the Carthage R-9 School District)

Carthage FFA will be holding its annual Food for America event on October 18, 2019 located at the Carthage Technical Center South Campus.

This program is done annually to inform local third graders about agriculture.

Last year, over 350 third grade students from the Carthage R9 district were able to participate; students and agriculture instructors anticipate that number to be larger this year.

Agriculture awareness is an important goal within Carthage FFA. FFA members have spent days working on presentations for the third graders covering agricultural topics ranging from cattle production to plant science and from tractor safety to food safety.

All of the stations share various agricultural facts in a fun learning environment where students are able to see live animals, heavy farm equipment, and great role models teaching them at each station.

Carthage FFA plans to reach all third grade students across the district to help prepare and educate them on the many agricultural subjects they may see out in their own community. (The event will run from 9:00 am to 2:35 pm with a break from 11:10 am to 12:10 pm)
