Joplin Police: We're not soliciting money

(From the Joplin Police Department)

The Joplin Police Department has received reports that citizens are receiving calls from a person reporting to be an employee of the Joplin Police Department.

That person has been soliciting money from citizens under false pretenses.

Please remember that J.P.D. will not solicit citizens to pay a fine, fee, bond or any other payment over the phone.

In addition, gift cards are not acceptable means of paying a fine, fee or bond.

If you receive one of these calls or have questions about a potential fraudulent situation, we encourage you to contact the Joplin Police Department at 417-623-3131 and an officer would be happy to talk with you about your situation.
