Calf auction fundraiser held for Crowder Aggies

The Newton/McDonald County Cattlemen’s Association in conjunction with the Joplin Regional Stockyards held the 7th Annual Calf auction to benefit Crowder College Aggies. This year’s auction including donations prior to the event totaled approximately $9,000. The organizations have raised over $80,000 since it started in 2013.

Jorge Zapata, Agriculture Division Chair, commented, “It has been an honor to be associated with such a generous group of community partners who are investing in the future of the ag industry. We are proud of our great students and of the friends we have in the local ag world.”

This year’s heifer was donated by Jim and Sheri Brown, and Terry Brown with 100% of the proceeds supporting the Crowder Aggies and Vet Tech activities. After the calf was auctioned several times the final bidder was Mr. Randy Drake of Neosho. He plans to add the heifer to his herd.
