(From Southern News Service)Officials from Missouri Southern State University and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College entered into an agreement today that will help facilitate the smooth transfer for international students from NEO to Missouri Southern.
Dr. Dean Van Galen, president of Missouri Southern, met with Dr. Kyle Stafford, NEO president, in the Calcagno Family Ballroom at NEO to sign a memorandum of understanding to benefit the international students who have completed an associate’s degree.
“NEO has a large population of international students,” said Van Galen. “Many are studying in areas where MSSU offers complimentary bachelor’s degree programs.
“The purpose of the MOU is to ensure that international students transferring from NEO have a clear understanding of the requirements for admissions and that MSSU staff are prepared to welcome them to our campus.”
Under the terms of the agreement, those students will be able to transfer to MSSU for the in-state tuition rate, plus 10 percent. It is designed to reduce cost barriers and allow them to stay in the area while continuing their studies.
“International students are an important part of the cultural diversity on campus,” said Stafford. “We are excited that this partnership allows our institutions to give these students a second home in the Four State Area.”
