Newsmakers features Caribbean music at MSSU

(From Southern News Service)

A special presentation of Caribbean music by the Missouri Southern Orchestra is the focus of the next edition of “Newsmakers” on KGCS-TV.

Dr. Canes Nicolas, assistant professor of music at MSSU, and Rudy Perrault, guest composer and director of orchestra at the University of Minnesota Duluth, sit down with Judy Stiles, host and KGCS general manager – to discuss the concert, including the history of the music and the instruments played. The concert is part of the university’s Caribbean-themed semester.

The show will begin airing nightly at 5:30 p.m. the week of Nov. 29, and Saturday, Dec. 5 at 5:30 a.m. on KOAM-TV. It’s also posted on the station’s YouTube channel (KGCS Missouri Southern) at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jNqzbnQw1A.

KGCS programing can be seen on channel 21, and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
