Two Springdale residents killed, 6 Neosho residents, including 4 children, injured in collision on 59

Two people were killed and six people injured in a collision 10 a.m. Saturday on MO 59, two miles north of MO 90 in Noel.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by Telni Helson, 53, Springdale, Arkansas, began skidding on the wet roadway, traveled into the southbound lane and was struck by a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Lidia O. Lopez, 36, Neosho.

Helson and a passenger in his vehicle, Marciana J. Bokadrik, 42, Springdale, were pronounced dead at the scene by McDonald County Deputy Coroner Jonathan Fletcher at 11:08 a.m.

Lopez and five passengers in her vehicle, 7, 10, and 11 year-old girls, a 14-year-old boy and Otilio O. Vasquez, 38, all of Neosho, were treated for minor injuries at Northwest Arkansas Medical Center, Springdale.

The fatalities were the 100th and 101st this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
