Road closure at 44th and Range Line to begin Monday

(From the City of Joplin)

Starting Monday, February 22, there will be a road closure at Range Line Road and 44th Street. This closure affects the eastern end of 44th Street between Richard Joseph Avenue and Range Line Road as the 44th Street widening project continues.

This closure was originally scheduled for February 8, however, was delayed due to weather conditions. (Nothing has changed with the original announcement, other than the date.)

Detours will be in place along Range Line Road directing drivers to use 43rd Street (Keller Drive) and Richard Joseph Boulevard for access to 44th Street. Traffic coming from 44th Street will be detoured to Richard Joseph Boulevard and directed to 43rd Street (Keller Drive) for Range Line Road access.

Upon completion of the road construction, this newly built section of 44th Street will need to be paved. Due to necessary weather conditions for paving, this closure may extend to early April.

The project to widen 44th Street, from Connecticut Avenue east to Range Line Road, and Connecticut Avenue from the bridge over Interstate 44, south to 44th Street began in Spring 2019. It includes a five-lane road, with a sidewalk and shared use path, as well as a roundabout at the intersection of 44th and Connecticut Avenue.

This project is funded through the 3/8 cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax approved by voters in 2014. D&E Plumbing Company is the contractor.
