Country Club Drive to close as 32nd Street widening begins

 (From the City of Joplin)

Preliminary work begins on the West 32nd Street widening project Monday, December 6, with crews removing trees from right-of-way areas adjacent to the street from Schifferdecker Avenue to Central City Road.

Drivers should be cautious along this roadway, as work may cause temporary lane closures in different locations. Those in the area should be alert for flagging crews.

Country Club Drive, from 26th Street to 32nd Street will be closed starting Monday, December 13 as crews work on underlying sanitary sewer lines that cross this roadway. Work should be completed by end of day Friday, December 17, weather permitting. Northbound and southbound traffic on Country Club Drive will not have a through path during this week. Property owners along Country Club Drive will be allowed access to their homes during the closure. Road closure and detour signs will be posted in this area.

Contractor for the 32nd Street widening project is Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. This improvement will widen 32nd Street, from Schifferdecker Avenue west to Central City Road. The design includes adding a center lane and constructing a sidewalk-shared use path. The $8 million project is funded through the 3/8 cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax approved by voters in 2014. Completion of this project is set for summer 2023.
