Joplin Fire Department reports elevated fire risk over next few days

There is an elevated fire risk over the next few days. 

Outdoor burning is not allowed today in the city of Joplin and based off weather forecasts it will not be allowed at least through Saturday. 

High winds and dry conditions will lead to rapid and dangerous fire growth. 

The city of Joplin continues to work through the city with their leaf pick up program and is a safe alternative to burning leaves.
